He has made the world weep

The family of Seung-Hui Cho released the following statement Friday, three days after Cho was identified as the gunman who killed 32 people and himself at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va.:

April 20, 2007

On behalf of our family, we are so deeply sorry for the devastation my brother has caused. No words can express our sadness that 32 innocent people lost their lives this week in such a terrible, senseless tragedy.

......

We grieve alongside the families, the Virginia Tech community, our State of Virginia, and the rest of the nation. And, the world.

.....

We never could have envisioned that he was capable of so much violence.

He has made the world weep. We are living a nightmare.

......

Our family is so very sorry for my brother’s unspeakable actions. It is a terrible tragedy for all of us.

This battle of Right against Might. The context, 77 years ago then, was the non-violent, 400km Salt March, a protest against British monopoly on salt trade.

First they ignore you,
then they laugh at you,
then they fight you,
then you win.
